Uniform Fines:
- The fines in MLB (by contrast with other pro sports) are generally smaller amounts, in part because the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) has a strong record in litigation and collective bargaining.
- MLB funnels fine money either to a central fund, which is shared among the league's 30 teams, or in some cases it goes to the charity of the player's choice.
- MLB allows players to delay paying any fine over $2,000 until after the appeals process has been completed.
