Shoe Rules:

  • At least 51% of each Player's shoes must be the Club's designated primary shoe color.
  • Individual Clubs shall determine the Club's shoe design and color schemes. Players must wear shoes that are compatible with their Club's design and color scheme.
  • Shoes with pointed spikes similar to golf or track shoes shall not be worn.
  • Excessive and distracting flaps on shoes, particularly those on pitchers, are not permitted.
  • Players will not be allowed to change shoes while running bases during any Major League game.
  • The addition of tape that is a color different than that of the shoe is not permitted and, if used, will mean the player, coach or manager is out of uniform.

Where does all the MLB fine money go?

MLB funnels fine money either to a central fund, which is shared among the league's 30 teams, or in some cases it goes to the charity of the player's choice.
