Keith Foulke
Boston closer Keith Foulke wore a patch of the American flag on his cap for most of the 2004 season to show his support for the American troops in Iraq. MLB commissioner Bud Selig wrote Foulke a personal letter concerning the issue and talks between the players\' union and baseball management ensued to try to come to an agreement. MLB ultimately told Foulke to (1) Pay a $1,000/game each time the hat was worn, (2) stop wearing the hat after July 4, and (3) agree to avoid criticizing baseball\'s position on the issue. Foulke reluctantly put away his baseball cap with the patch soon thereafter and was not fined.
