Deion Sanders
Cincinnati Reds OF Deion Sanders cut short the sleeves of his road uniform in early April of the 1997 season. Sanders altered his uniform as a tribute to Jackie Robinson, after seeing a photograph of the late Brooklyn Dodger on a Wheaties box. Sanders also wore his pants at knee length in tribute. When Sanders was told by MLB that he was in violation of the MLB dress code‚ the Cincinnati Reds team voted to join Deion by promoting team uniformity‚ and appeared on field soon thereafter with the same cut-off sleeves.
